The British Meat Processors Association (BMPA) is the leading trade association in the meat and meat product industry and, as a group, our members serve the vast majority of the UK population through both the catering and retail channels.

We represent businesses big and small, publicly and privately owned, and with interests that reach across the farming, slaughtering, processing, manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, and packing sector of the meat and meat products industry. Indeed, our membership ranges from small, progressive abattoir businesses supplying local customers to large consumer brand owners selling well known ‘household names’ nationally. Our members manufacture branded and retailer own-label product ranges and are involved across a range of different meat species and foods.
This diversity serves to enrich our organisation and allows us to be truly representative in our dealings with Government in the UK and in Europe. Added to this, we draw strength from the involvement of Associate Members in supporting and allied industries, including retailer, service and ingredient suppliers. In the BMPA, all have the opportunity to work within an organisation at the centre of the British food industry. If one thing is certain in our industry, it is change and over time the BMPA has evolved to become a leading trade association in the UK food industry. Formed in 2003 from the merger of two associations, the British Meat Federation (BMF) and the British Meat Manufacturers’ Association (BMMA), the Association is well positioned to represent the interests of its membership in the future.
